Windsor Residence Halls Renovations — Shealy Hall

Shealy Hall is the third phase of the five –phase renovation of Windsor Residence Halls at Purdue University’s West Lafayette, Indiana campus. Shealy Hall opened in 1937 as North Hall. The design focuses on highlighting the building’s historic features through updated finishes while providing improved accessibility and completely modern HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. The building’s original historic lighting is restored and all the oak and poplar woodwork refinished. The living room features bookcases and a stone fireplace surrounded by newly reupholstered furniture. The existing dining room is repurposed as a large quiet study room that showcases its original woodwork, stone fireplace, arched colonnade and slate flooring. The Shealy Hall basement is completely designed with today’s students in mind. The new design features a large TV lounge that may be easily rearranged to accommodate many different functions. The historic furniture is reupholstered to coordinate with the updated blue and bright green accents. Also featured is a large Game Room with a unique color scheme, slatted wood ceiling treatment and modern lighting. A variety of seating options are available near a selection of games including video arcade games, a jukebox and pinball machines.
