The project is a new home for the terminally ill, sponsored by VNS Healthcare System. The project is located in the 4700 block of Pennwood Drive, Indianapolis. The new building consists of three adjacent homes, each with 4 sleeping rooms, office space, living room, dining areas, a first floor kitchen, a conference room, a meeting room and a gathering space on the second level. Each unit is connected to the adjacent unit interior by a single door on the first level. Spaces for support staff and storage are accommodated between the two floors. The design incorporates residential construction techniques and methods as well as conventional building materials such as brick, wood studs, asphalt roofing shingles, and stone window sills.
