The shared corporate offices of A2SO4 and R.W. Armstrong occupied Union Station in November of 2003, after an extensive renovation of a portion of the train platform and shed. The historic building is complemented with a contemporary interior that serves as an expression of both the shared vision and unique characteristics of the two firms. Curved forms echo the arched steel structure while angled walls and translucent panels introduce vibrant and exciting layers of texture and color throughout the space. The arrangement of office pods and internal structures along the primary axial passage serve both to house the growing teams of designers and provide a means of way-finding — the tension created by their forms reducing the internal scale while clearly delineating the organizational components of an evolving workplace.
